The Pennsylvania Construction Codes Academy (PCCA) is the result of multiple training partnerships with organizations throughout the Commonwealth.  The following partners have been instrumental in the continued success of the Academy, whether by helping us develop our curriculum, sponsoring specific sessions for their members, or researching and designing new training materials and courses.

The mission of the Building & Fire Code Academy (BFCA), a subsidiary of B & F Technical Code Services, Inc., is to provide comprehensive and practical education in the administration, application and enforcement of building and fire codes.  The BFCA is also an International Association for Continuing Education & Training (IACET) authorized provider and an American Institute of Architects-Continuing Education System (AIA/CES) registered provider.

Pennsylvania’s Bureau for Historic Preservation is part of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and serves as the State Historic Preservation Office.  The role of the Bureau is to identify and protect the architectural and archaeological resources of Pennsylvania.  Their responsibility is to work with individuals, communities, local governments and state and federal agencies to educate Pennsylvanians about our heritage and its value, to build better communities through preservation, to provide strong leadership, both individually and through partnerships, and to ensure the preservation of Pennsylvania’s heritage.

Commonwealth Building Officials (CBO), Charter Chapter #6 of BOCA International and PennBOC Chapter Region #6 of the International Code Council, was established in 1965 to advance and improve code-enforcement practices, to elevate the professionalism of code officials, to provide public education on the importance of the service performed by the construction code official, and to promote good public relations and good government in municipalities.

International Code Consultants, Inc. is a multi-dimensional company with experience and expertise in a variety of municipal and private venues.  Services include plan review, inspection and permitting services, zoning, code enforcement, subdivision and land development reviews, emergency management operations and disaster plan preparation.  In addition, International Code Consultants has recently partnered with the International Code Council (ICC) to deliver ICC seminars customized specifically for Pennsylvania. 

The mission of the Lancaster County Code Association (LanCode) is to provide educational opportunities and a network for communication among municipal code officials, third-party inspection agencies, design professionals, contractors, trade associations and other interested parties.

Pennsylvania Association of Building Code Officials (PABCO) is a non-profit Association representing more than 900 UCC certified and registered code officials in the Commonwealth.  Its membership consists of both municipal and third-party agency officials, from urban, suburban and rural areas of the Commonwealth.  PABCO’s municipal, third-party and COG members serve over 1,750 municipalities through the state.

The Pennsylvania Association of Code Officials (PACO) was established in 1997 to advance the professional development of its membership in the form of training and networking.  From its original membership of 20, the organization has grown to 220 members representing five counties surrounding the Philadelphia metropolitan area.  For the past four year the organization has held an annual Spring Forum in addition to its regular seminars, and business meetings that include short-format training programs.

The Pennsylvania Building Officials Conference (PennBOC) was established by a group of building officials in 1958.  PennBOC received the distinction and honor in 1962 as the first charter chapter of BOCA International, and in 2002 the organization expanded its range and experience by becoming a chapter of the International Code Council.  PennBOC holds numerous educational seminars throughout the year and has hosted an annual conference since 1974.

The Pennsylvania Housing Resource/Research Center (PHRC) serves the home building and remodeling industries and the citizens of Pennsylvania by improving the quality and affordability of housing.  In addition to the development and delivery of an extensive training program to code officials and building industry professionals, the PHRC conducts applied research, fosters the development and commercialization of innovation technologies, and transfers appropriate technologies to the housing community.
