DEPARTMENT OF LABOR & INDUSTRY
UCC UPDATE
JULY 14, 2005
The advisory on the Health Care Facilities Act (HCFA) has been amended, to reflect the fact that only Class B and Class C ambulatory surgical centers, and renal treatment centers providing in-patient services are covered under the HCFA.
The Advisory on Illegally Existing Buildings has been temporarily removed.
An advisory has been added to this website explaining how temporary structures should generally be treated under the UCC. Click here to access the Advisory on Temporary Structures.
The following changes have been made.
We have added a new page entitled “Historic Buildings.” This explains our procedures for approving the legal occupancy of these buildings and how we will deal with changes that are made to historic buildings.
On the ‘Plan Review and Inspections” page, we have:
Added a link to a document outlining our minimum inspection requirements for in-home day cares in subsection “I.”
Added a new subsection “J” dealing with modular construction.
Added a new subsection ‘N” on the partial occupancy of buildings.
On the technical Advisories page, we have added an explanation of how the Department interprets sections 311.1 and 312.1 of the International Building Code.
