As many builders have yet to apply for a permit under the 2015 codes, it is likely that many of them are not aware of important new requirements. Does your building department have a plan? The 2015 IECC brings increased R-values, mandatory blower door testing, whole-house ventilation (in the IRC), tighter duct leakage limits, and more efficient lighting. This webinar will discuss these changes and provide suggestions for implementation, including how to educate the local construction industry, what information to gather through permit applications, and how to collect and review third-party performance testing document.
The following implementation questions will be discussed:
- Will you be requiring an approved third-party to perform blower door testing? If so, how will you define “approved”?
- How will you identify when duct leakage testing is required?
- How will you ensure you are collecting blower door and duct leakage testing documentation prior to issuing a certificate of occupancy?
- How will you notify applicants of new code requirements and local enforcement policies?
