ENERGY CODE TRAINING PROVIDERS
AEC Daily | The largest provider of free online continuing education to construction professionals. Provides a collection of courses focusing on or containing information about building or energy codes, including recent editions of ASHRAE Standard 90.1 and the IECC.
Architectural Record Continuing Education | Provides a series of AIA Continuing Education online-based, self-paced, interactive courses, designed to provide architects with professional development. The extensive course library includes articles on energy codes and HSW topics, as well as strategies for high-performing buildings.
ASHRAE Learning Institute (ALI) | ALI offers a wide range of professional development seminars and short courses. All content is developed through ALI’s peer-review proves and all instructors are ASHRAE members, college or university faculty, and/or full-time professional engineers. Courses may be accepted for continuing education credits by states, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), and other credentialing organizations. As well as offering courses at industry events around the globe, ASHRAE offers many online series of courses on topics including Standard 90.1.
Association of Energy Engineers | AEE offers both live and online professional training seminars in a broad spectrum of energy-related areas, with many programs specifically designed to serve as preparatory coursed for AEE professional certification candidates. AEE’s preparatory course for the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) examination, for example, includes topics on ASHRAE standards, LEED, and sustainable design.
B F Environmental Consultants Inc. | This site offers individual and packaged online courses that can be sorted by keyword, profession, state, and category. Courses focus on the model energy codes and above-code initiatives such as LEED, Green Globes, integrated design, and net zero.
Building Design + Construction University | This online university offers training for architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners/developers who specialize in the commercial, industrial, and institutional markets. Users will find webcasts, podcasts, white papers, case studies, and educational courses that can help them earn AIA/CES and other professional learning units. BD+C hosts many courses on topics relating to sustainability and energy efficiency, including building envelope optimization and energy modeling.
Building Performance Institute | BPI encourages certified professionals to participate in continuing education opportunities to stay current with new technologies and best practices. BPI awards Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for recertification upon completion and proof of coursework. BPI offers hundreds of online courses and a handful of webinars on topics including model energy codes provisions and ENERGY STAR.
Central Pennsylvania ASHRAE Chapter | Along with other Pennsylvania chapters such as those in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, this chapter hosts in-person events including product shows and online events such as webcasts. Meetings include technical session topics that are eligible for Professional Development Hours.
CertainTeed | The CertainTeed Building Knowledge Academy of Continuing Education (ACE) offers online education as well as in-person courses and webinars to obtain AIA credits and develop relevant skills and knowledge. Courses cover the role of specific building materials in the larger picture of sustainability, with a focus on both commercial and residential applications. Much of the material is geared towards architects, engineers, and LEED professionals.
Everblue | Offers short-course sustainability training for professional development, exam preparation, and continuing education. Products include live and online exam preparation training, credential maintenance, recertification, and CEU packages. Resources include training for LEED and RESNET HERS raters.
Green Education Services | GreenEDU is dedicated to providing green building, construction safety, and design education designed to help professionals achieve success in the rapidly growing fields of sustainable construction and design. This website’s offerings include LEED exam preparation and continuing education as well as BPI building analyst certification and energy efficiency training.
Hanley Wood University | HWU is a continuing education and professional training provider for the construction industry. Hanley Wood University provides hundreds of Continuing Education courses for architects, builders, designers, and more. Courses are created by leading industry content specialists, and provide credits for the following organizations: AIA, AIA/HSW, ASLA, GBCI, IDCEC, NAHB, NARI and NKBA. Course topics include new model energy codes and standards, LEED, and modern green building components.
ICC Campus Online | Offers online, self-paced courses to members and other interested individuals. Energy code training selections include the 2012 IECC, fundamentals of the 2012 IgCC, and an overview of the I-Codes. ICC also offers certification exam study courses and archived webinars presented by industry experts.
PDH Online | Contains a huge (2000+) online course library to help professionals fulfill continuing professional competency requirements mandated by many state boards of registration for professional engineers, architects and land surveyors. All courses are designed with a clear purpose and objective to maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee's field of practice. Includes several courses on ASHRAE model codes, LEED, ENERGY STAR, and sustainability.
Penn Building Officials Conference | PENNBOC provides attendees with documentation to satisfy requirements for both the PA Department of Labor and Industry (L&I) and the International Code Council (ICC). Trainings may occur as standalone events or as components of regional code conferences.
Pennsylvania Construction Codes Academy | PCCA's primary mission is to provide training to new and current construction code officials, but courses are also open to builders, contractors, architects, engineers, and municipal officials - anyone with an interest in the proper enforcement of the UCC. Courses are L&I approved. Training covers both commercial and residential sides of the energy code.
Penn Society for Professional Engineers | Brings licensed engineers valuable and relevant opportunities to meet continuing education requirements. Courses covering mechanical, electrical, structural, engineering law, ethics, and other design topics are taught at numerous dates and locations. “Boot Camp” conferences offer multiple tracks with sessions to suit different interests.
Pennsylvania College of Technology | The National Sustainable Structures Center (NSSC) offers training for residential and commercial structures, including BPI-related training, Home Energy Professional certification training and testing, and Building Operator Certification.
Pennsylvania Housing Research Center | The PHRC at Penn State serves the home building industry and the residents of Pennsylvania by improving the quality and affordability of housing. The center offers workshops and webinars on topics such as the energy efficiency, energy code compliance, and green building.
PSD Consulting | Offers advanced training for building engineers, with a roster including BPI, RESNET and EPA trainings, software end-user classes, and advanced trainings that address the complexities of multifamily and commercial projects. Courses on software include energy modeling in eQUEST and NREL’s OpenStudio. PSD offers courses delivered in classrooms, in the field, and through online webinars.
Urban Engineers | Provides continuous learning and training opportunities for its staff as well as professional development opportunities for external participants through the Training Institute. The Training Institute offers a variety of courses for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
